Baja BioSana was initially conceived in 2006 during a trip to Baja California Sur by Will Quenan and Andrew Jones during a break from post-Katrina Hurricane reconstruction. A visit to the region led to purchasing the initial piece of land following a recommendation by Kitzia and Gabriel Howearth (Buena Fortuna). This was made possible by forming Baja BioSana as a Mexican registered non-profit, and through the contributions of initial founding members which provided the capital necessary to secure the land base.
The name BioSana is made up of two words
Bios - latin for 'life'
Sana - 'health' in Spanish
It reflects the initial vision for BioSana as a place where solutions are explored, expressed and shared and life in all its diversity and potentiality is embraced.
