Plan to preserve agricultural land and agricultural occupations
Agriculture is too often categorized with a secondclass status in economic and environmental decisionmaking as well as in municipal urban planning. It is quickly forgotten that agriculture is the core of our society for it sustains our population and enables food security, a staple for our mere existence. The sub-region of the East Cape has a limited supply of high quality land that is agriculturally cultivable and which contains fertile soils. With predictions for a rapid increase in tourist development, climate changes, population growth and immigration into the Los Cabos region it becomes even more critical to sustain these exclusively agricultural territories. Representing a key role within the economy of the East Cape as well as providing employment and income for a substantial portion.
